We have perfected the art of Sail Training onboard our 5 Sailing Ketches. ( 50 pax ) ( Sail Training International requires fore and aft rigged sailboats to qualify ) Whether it is Leadership, TeamBuilding, VUCA, Change Management, Personality Profiling, Onboarding or Core Values Assimilation … we will customise the right activities onboard with the right dosage of Challenge and Perceived Risk .

BOATING COURSE (PPCDL)

PPCDL is required for operators of engine-powered/ jet-propelled pleasure craft (with SZ or SZH licence prefit). PARTNERSHIP WITH SINGAPORE SCOUTS ASSOCIATION (SSA)

On 2nd Nov 2019, FOCUS Adventure (FA) and CAMP CHALLENGE (CC) have entered into a partnership with Singapore Scouts Association (SSA) with the presence of 30 scout leaders at Raffles Marina.

Committed to the development and education of young people, the SSA is one of the oldest youth movements in Singapore – celebrating its 100th Anniversary in the year 2010. Scouting encourages the holistic physical, mental, spiritual and social development of youth with a strong emphasis on duty to God, duty to country, and helping other people.

FA and CC aims to inculcate important values and life skills in youth (also including children), inspiring them to become caring and good citizens. This is achieved through the integration of the strengths, resources and commitment of all stakeholders to deliver holistic youth engagement programmes.

With this MOU, both parties will bring their mission further with cooperating and combining resources from both parties. SSA has also established a Singapore Scouts Sea Training Centre at Raffles Marina. This Sea training centre will be supported by FA and CC resources such as keelboats, kayaks, dragon boats etc.

Looking forward to better youth development and sea scouting in Singapore!

LARGEST VIRTUAL ADVENTURE LEARNING PROGRAMME (VALP) CONDUCTED WITH MORE THAN 350 PARTICIPANTS

LARGEST VIRTUAL ADVENTURE LEARNING PROGRAMME (VALP) CONDUCTED WITH MORE THAN 350 PARTICIPANTS

We have just completed the largest Virtual Adventure Learning (teambuilding) Programme recently! With 360 participants turning up on the actual day, the programme was incredibly a success!

The participants attempted one of our most popular Virtual Adventure Learning Programme (VALP), The Pixelated Challenge! In this activity, participants had to do various fringe activities to get clues to paint an excel sheet that eventually formed a bigger picture!

Change is inevitable, and the participants plainly showed resilience and flexibility by having their annual teambuilding online this year!

Teams had to work together and within the time given to complete their work!

The beauty of the whole experience was when the participants show the final product of all 360 participants’ painting put together that created one big mural with a message for everyone “To Challenge Today for a Better Tomorrow!”

Kudos to the FOCUS team for putting this together and working effortlessly to make this a success for our client!

We have been told that FOCUS Adventure is the only provider in SE Asia to be able to pull off online teambuilding programmes at scale. Hence, FOCUS Adventure with 24 years of history has the right resources and team to deliver an unforgettable virtual teambuilding experience for your staff !

We want to take up the challenge to break this record and set our standards higher!

FROM YOUTH DEVELOPMENT TO DORMITORY MANAGEMENT

FROM YOUTH DEVELOPMENT TO DORMITORY MANAGEMENT

During this pandemic, CAMP CHALLENGE found a new approach to be AGILE during this period by lending a helping hand to our brothers and sisters across the border, as Malaysia announced its MCO. During this lockdown, our dear neighbours were struggling to find accommodation in Singapore as many of them decided to cross the border to stay in Singapore to continue earning for their livelihoods. News had reported that some were sleeping at the MRT stations and we were told by some companies who seek accommodations with us that their workers were staying in the warehouse or carparks. Hence, out of compassion and care for our fellow Malaysian brothers and sisters, we prepared our available dormitories to host them, providing them with a shelter during this tough period!

As the MCO extended multiple times through the month, this meant that many of the workers had to spend Hari Raya in Singapore, while missing their families back at home. To boost the kampung spirit, our team decided to come up with several events such as giving out care packs in April, having a Bandung Day where we gave out iced Bandung with Raya cookies, as well as sharing free lunch bento in collaboration with Free Food For All on Hari Raya day itself.

OBS LSA SAILING EXPEDITION FROM 14TH DEC TO 18TH DEC

OBS LSA SAILING EXPEDITION FROM 14TH DEC TO 18TH DEC

The most Epic of Adventures was completed with FOCUS Adventure working in collaboration with Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) and SeaOPs where a total of 6 boats, 4 sailboats and 2 safety boats, completed a 5 Days and 4 Night journey to Batam, Bintan and back. 39 participants from OBS’ Leadership and Service Award (LSA) took part in this journey where they had to utilize their navigational skills, to reach various locations each day.

On Day 1, up the participants where picked up from Pulau Ubin and separated into 4 different sailboats; P power, Maybritt, Zig Zag Wanderer and Kelolo. Nautical terms, sailing terminologies, science of sailing and how to use the ropes where taught on each boat before setting off to Nongsa Point Marina, Batam. Along the way, each boat practiced various maneuvers to allow the participants to further familiarize themselves with sailing.

On Day 2, the sailboats departed to Fish head Island, a remote and private island near Pulau Ngalih, Bintan, where special permission is required to stay. The journey to Fish head Island required the sailboats to sail through the channel between Batam and Bintan. The participants were also required to navigate their way through treacherous waters where reefs and shallow sea beds were a plenty.

Day 3 saw the participants taking control of the sailboats and being Skippers themselves, to navigate towards Pulau Tunjuk. Strong winds, waves and currents made this stretch particularly harder. But all boats were able to reach the destination where participants were had a special treat install for them; anchoring off land and sleeping on board the ship.

On Day 4, the participants made their way back to Nongsa Point Marina through light winds and rain and managed to capture a beautiful sight of a school of dolphins swimming beside the fleet. Nearing the end of this journey, the participants were shown to have demonstrated a high level of competency in sailing.

Finally, for Day 5, everyone made their way back home through a heavy thunderstorm. Upon reaching Pulau Ubin, the storm had subsided and presented everyone with a beautiful rainbow to signify the end of the journey.

This epic adventure was showed that every moment is challenge, and all obstacles can be overcome with teamwork!

CSR INTERNAL BUILD A BIKE SESSION – SUCCESS STARTS FROM THE QUALITY OF RELATIONSHIPS

CSR INTERNAL BUILD A BIKE SESSION – SUCCESS STARTS FROM THE QUALITY OF RELATIONSHIPS

Despite the recent case of Covid-19 occurring, the CSR team decided to spend some time by upgrading ourselves. We manage to convince our colleagues who have been stuck in office for way too long! We all enjoyed ourselves as we get to have a more hands on approach to doing things. Working together on building children bicycles to better prep for our upcoming internal CSR session with our beneficiary. We always believe that in order to create better bonds and to run better teambuilding programmes. We must practice what we preach. Hence if we look in a perspective through systems thinking, a reinforcing engine of success starts from looking at the quality of relationships. It is never easy but definitely, we would work together and help each other achieve greater heights!
