SG60 Celebrating 60 Years of Purpose: How CSR Drives a More Sustainable Singapore

Challenge Series SG 60 Focus Adventure

The Synapxe Saga: Six Houses, One Goal

Employees from Synapxe were divided into six proud Houses, each with a singular mission: to design, build, and deploy a Dragon-themed Trebuchet capable of launching projectiles to demolish rival castles. From the get-go, every house got busy with strategic planning, deployment of resources, ingenious engineering and a hall full of cheering (and jeering), bringing their unique identity and spirit into play. While alliances were tested and basketballs were flung, what stood firm was the unwavering camaraderie and unity that marked each team’s effort.

SG60 Celebrating 60 Years of Purpose: How CSR Drives a More Sustainable Singapore

2025 marks a remarkable milestone for Singapore—60 years of independence, resilience, and progress. As we commemorate this diamond jubilee, the nation’s focus has rightly turned towards sustainability—not just in environmental terms, but also in how we cultivate enduring communities, inclusive growth, and meaningful work.

Challenge Series SG 60 Focus Adventure

In recent years, corporate social responsibility (CSR) has taken center stage in Singapore’s sustainability journey. Beyond profit, companies are now expected to play an active role in addressing social challenges and creating a positive impact on society. At FOCUS Adventure, we believe CSR is not just a checkbox, but a powerful opportunity to align people with purpose.

Our corporate training programs have always been about building stronger teams and better leaders. But in honour of Singapore’s 60th year, we wanted to do more—by inspiring teams to contribute to something greater than themselves.

The Build-A-Bike Challenge!

One of our most meaningful activities involves a seemingly straightforward challenge: build The Best bicycle as a team. Participants dive into the task, collaborating, competing, and problem-solving. What they don’t initially know is that these bicycles aren’t just for points or prizes. They’re destined for the less fortunate who need them in their everyday lives!

Midway through the session, we pause. We reveal the true purpose of their work…and the atmosphere instantly shifts. Conversations deepen, teamwork intensifies, and a profound sense of purpose takes over. What started as a game transforms into a mission. That moment when participants realise their work has real-world impact—is powerful beyond words.

This is more than just a team-building exercise. It’s a learning journey that mirrors what many organisations strive for: aligning individual effort with a broader vision. When employees understand how their everyday actions contribute to a greater cause, engagement soars. They aren’t simply building bicycles—they’re building lives, communities, and a more sustainable Singapore.

In a year of reflection and celebration, we’re reminded that our nation’s strength lies not just in infrastructure or innovation, but in the values we uphold. CSR isn’t just about writing cheques. It’s about creating experiences that bring people together and foster a culture of giving.

FOCUS Adventure Flagship Teambuilding Build-A-Bike Challenge. Build Teams while doing good.

As we ride into the next chapter of Singapore’s story, let’s ensure our progress is purposeful, our people are engaged, and our impact is lasting. At FOCUS Adventure, we’re proud to play a small part in that journey—one bicycle at a time.

Breaking Records and Building Legends

Large Scale Catapult Challenge

Breaking Records and Building Legends

The Dragon Trebuchet Challenge!

6 Houses. 1 Epic Battle.

In the most ambitious event we’ve ever hosted, FOCUS Adventure proudly brought to life a high-octane, fantasy-inspired programme: The Dragon Trebuchet Challenge! With an astounding company-wide mega effort gathered on a single day, the event not only shattered our previous attendance records—it also redefined what large-scale teambuilding can achieve.

Held within the expansive space of an entire event hall in Singapore EXPO, packed with energy levels off the charts, the event was more than just your typical staff conference. It was an immersive, unforgettable experience that merged creativity, collaboration, and a healthy dose of friendly rivalry.

Six Houses, One Goal

Participants were divided into six proud Houses, each with a singular mission: to design, build, and deploy a Dragon-themed Trebuchet capable of launching projectiles to demolish rival castles. From the get-go, every house got busy with strategic planning, deployment of resources, ingenious engineering, and a hall full of cheering (and jeering), bringing their unique identity and spirit into play. While alliances were tested and basketballs were flung, what stood firm was the unwavering camaraderie and unity that marked each team’s effort.

Why Trebuchets?

The trebuchet, a medieval siege engine, is the perfect metaphor for strategic force and momentum—qualities essential to any forward-moving, people-first organization. In line with the dragon mascot, the Dragon Trebuchets released their payload through the air, overcoming obstacles and meeting their targets.

Beyond the Battle

Though the competition was fierce, the real victories were found in the laughter, the leadership that emerged, and the connections that deepened among teammates. The Dragon Trebuchet Challenge! wasn’t just about knocking down walls—it was about breaking barriers, and launching a culture of collaboration sky-high.

Our Record-Breaking Moment

This event marks a monumental milestone for FOCUS Adventure:

As the dust settled and the trebuchets returned to the armoury, one truth stood tall: when you bring together bold imagination, daring execution and full engagement, magic happens.

As the day wound down, our 100-strong crew sat in our holding areas across from each other—speechless, but full of pride at the amazing success of the day. What an effort! Months of meticulous planning and precise execution culminated in a day we will never forget.

To the incredible team and our partners—thank you for your trust, energy, and spirit. You’ve set a new standard, and we can’t wait to build on it.

Until next time… Ready, aim, fire!

FAcilitator Mr Sasi was very good at leading and reading the room, knowing when to kaciao us further and knowing when we were genuinely tired and needed a break. he regularly checked in with us if we needed more time on breaks. games were explained with good examples and good briefings were had, which reduced any confusion over rules and allowed us to know what to expect, or how complex the rules would be. i also appreciated the semi delegation of roles with enough wriggle room for us to choose, but also enough organisation from the FAcilitator such that it was too chaotic. overall an enjoyable experience that was well structured and at no point left me confused over what was going to happen next.

Once again, we would like to thank the FOCUS team for your excellent facilitation of the CRIS HQ Team Retreat, especially for the team building activities! The team enjoyed themselves immensely and we got to know each other better. We really appreciate the preparation work and thoughtful planning by Bryan and the FOCUS team during the facilitated discussions on days 2 and 3. The activities were really helpful to engage the attendees. While there was some feedback that there was insufficient time for developing the concrete follow-up actions; nevertheless, our CEO was very satisfied with the Vision/Mission crafting and outcomes of the retreat. The video and photos compilation by Heng Zhi were wonderful memories for us.We will definitely recommend FOCUS adventures to our Business Units and hope to work with FOCUS again soon.

Turnstile: The Ultimate Test of Team Coordination and Support

Turnstile is a high-energy, high-stakes finale activity that pushes teams to their limits — and then brings them together in the face of repeated setbacks. With a rotating system that demands precision, patience, and group encouragement, this challenge mirrors real-life organizational dynamics where one misstep can reset progress for all.

Designed to surface leadership, promote systems thinking, and foster a culture of perseverance, Turnstile creates powerful moments of frustration, learning, and eventually — triumph. Each failed attempt becomes a lesson, and every small success builds the momentum toward a collective breakthrough.

Ideal for large teams, this experience is best used to close a programme with a lasting emotional impact and memorable takeaways that resonate long after the ropes stop spinning.

Mouse Traps: Building Trust in Systems, Peers, and Ourselves

Mouse Traps is a progressive team building activity that explores one of the most critical yet fragile elements of high-performing teams — trust. Through a series of increasingly complex challenges, participants experience firsthand what it means to trust a system, place confidence in a partner, and work in harmony with a larger group, even when the stakes feel high.

At each stage, participants confront their own beliefs about risk, control, and support. Whether guiding someone without physical touch or collaborating with teammates to build a delicate structure under pressure, the activity reflects the real-world dynamics of system adaptation, communication under stress, and mutual accountability.

Mouse Traps is ideal for organizations navigating change, rebuilding team alignment, or exploring the connection between emotional safety and performance.

Key Punch: Planning, Agility, and Responding to Change Under Pressure

Key Punch is a fast-paced, mentally engaging team challenge that sharpens your group’s ability to plan, adapt, and execute under changing conditions. What begins as a seemingly simple task soon evolves into a test of coordination, timing, and responsiveness.

With limited information and unexpected disruptions along the way, participants must learn to navigate uncertainty, react quickly, and make smart decisions as a team. The experience underscores a core workplace truth — that success often hinges on how teams handle ambiguity, shifting priorities, and incomplete data.

If you’re looking to simulate real-world agility, boost communication, and develop resilient problem-solving behaviors, Key Punch is an impactful and energizing choice.
